My robot, the Lunar Raccoon, has a protective plastic covering that is shaped as a raccoon that protects most mechanics. There are sensors on its eyes and hind paws for navigation. The wheels encased in the hind paws allow movement. The mechanical ¨eyelids¨ clean the eye sensors of any dust. It has a mechanical pulley system in the arms that allows it to deposit dirt into the chest cavity, where a tube leads down into a collection chamber. Its mechanical pulley system also works for its digging, allowing it to lean down and scoop the dirt into small shovels attached to the hands. Any parts that are sensitive to dust are covered by the raccoon shell which can be cleaned manually or through the automatic cleaning process. The Lunar Raccoon makes more trips as the collection chamber is meant for smaller samples.
