ELUXO is built from titanium alloy with HOMES tiles around the robot acting as an active dust technology. Gold foil is added in areas where HOMES tiles do not fit so the area stays protected. Hoods are above the tracks to prevent regolith from moving up the sides of the robot. The robot can move at varying speeds and has tracks with tall horizontal treads to improve traction. To dig, ELUXO uses a claw that can rotate 360 degrees and has multiple joints to increase the robot's range of motion. A detachable remote-controlled rover, ELUXO Jr., is connected underneath EXULO that excavates the regolith to the moon base or store the regolith inside ELUXO when reattached. Both are remote-controlled and can receive commands from astronauts on the moon. ELUXO runs on a radioisotope power system and solar panels. ELUXO Jr. charges from the same power sources when connected to ELUXO.
