The Regolith Extraction System (R.E.S.) is designed to traverse the lunar surface and collect regolith from the surface. R.E.S. uses a drill system with a belt and scoop system that has a rotation and extension system. The drive system uses four independently powered wheels allowing for on the spot turning and finally there is a bucket which uses a flop system to dump its cargo and a "backboard" to allow optimal collection efficiency. The R.E.S. system is also equipped with a solar panel for power generation and has as much of its systems contained to prevent damage from lunar dust. This is, for now an unfinished system. If R.E.S. is chosen as a finalist and selected to possibly be used within the Artemis program, I suggest that JPL and NASA engineers continue to develop this concept and prototype the system even with me far out of the picture.
