My robot will have several components that allow it to operate on the moon and reach its goal of digging out enough soil to extract minerals, harvest water for fuel, and build a base out of the soil itself. The lunar dust is a problem because it sticks to everything astronauts bring to the moon. Applying a thin film of indium tin oxide on the machinery will repel the dust. There will be two compartments on each side of the robot that will hold the soil it digs. It will also take a large amount of soil at a time to reduce the number of trips and save energy. Doing this will guarantee that the robot can dig the soil without having any sort of problem. I hope that the astronauts that use this idea in the future will be able to get the job done.
