A Nasa study found that astronauts on long term missions experience an average of 1.6 to 1.7 percent loss of outer bone mass and a 2.2 to 2.5 average percent loss of inner bone mass. This will make them more prone to broken and fractured bones. This is where my invention comes in. A 3D printable, reusable wrist splint, which will help a broken wrist heal. Broken bones are more prone to rebreaking after they’ve healed, and since the splint is reusable, this negates the need to reprint it if the astronaut was to break their wrist again.
