Psychological issues such as isolation and confinement can occur when a group of people are placed in a small space for a long period of time. There are multiple different side-effects of isolation and confinement; these side-effects may include but are not limited to a decline in cognition, mood, interpersonal interaction, or an increase in depression. Being unable to function properly or communicate with one’s team can impact the success of a mission. Focusing on the psychological side of medicine, the idea behind this medical tool is to improve isolation and confinement effects that occur while in space by giving the astronauts something to play with. The cad can be printed and assembled to make puzzle cube. The single-sided pieces connect into the cross, while the two and three-sided pieces snap in place along the edges. The Astro Cube is a medical tool that helps keep astronauts mentally healthy on their mission to Mars.
