This lightweight finger brace can be used to support an astronaut's broken, jammed, sprained, or fractured finger and help it heal correctly. Using a 3D printed model would allow astronauts to print as needed instead of taking it on the ship, and also to scale the brace to their finger size. The brace has a hinge mechanism with a rod in a tube that is put together after printing, and a clip mechanism with triangles and corresponding triangle-shaped holes that allows it to be put on and taken off easily. Holes in the body reduce the weight and the amount of plastic needed. Extra padding would be needed to make it fit more snugly and be more comfortable. Please note the design could not be printed as shown; the top and bottom halves are separate and would need to be moved before printing. I made the design this way to make it easier to visualize how the hinge and clip work.
