Microgravity in space causes loss of bone density, which leads to kidney stones, or broken bones. “This long-term study found an average of 1.6-1.7 percent loss of outer bone (cortical) mass and 2.2-2.5 percent loss of inner bone (trabecular) per month during long-term spaceflight.” (NASA) This cast will help astronauts who broke or sprained an arm. It will be portable, easy to put on and take off, and will be made of aluminum, a soft and bendy metal. It will be fitted for any astronaut’s arm. Since astronauts have different size forearms, the astronaut who uses The Space Band will be able to change the size of the brace to fit themselves by expanding or making the STL file smaller.
