Dear sir/ma’am, I think myself fortunate enough to get this opportunity to ask you a few questions about the Mars Perseverance Rover. I am a 5th grader. I love to explore space and want to be an astronaut. 1. Is there any covering on the rover to protect its sensitive instruments? If there is no protective covering (apparently not visible from outside), whether could NASA provide any protective layer(s)? Does it hamper its functioning? 2. Is there any inbuilt mechanism present in the rover to detect any extraterrestrial life? Also, I wonder whether NASA had control over the rover on this when it left Earth's atmosphere until it reached Mars. 3. Does the rover contain any radioactive material that it would leave on Mars when the mission would over? If so, what would the NASA scientists do to destroy those after a successful mission? I appreciate your time. Thank you.
