When I was looking for molecules we see or interact with every day, I learnt about this molecule called ‘ATP’ and found it very interesting to design a 3D model. Adenosine triphosphate (ATP) is a molecule which carries energy and found in the cells of all living things. It provides the cells with chemical energy. ATP is made of three main structures adenine, ribose and 3 phosphate groups. The bonds between phosphates have energy. When the bonds are broken, they release energy. Energy is needed for all physical activities. In plants ATP is formed during photosynthesis. ATP is not very stable. It dissolves in water. When it mixes with water, one of the phosphate groups is removed and forms ADP (Adenosine diphosphate) and it releases energy.
