I chose propane because many people use it in their daily lives to cook their food, and it is used as a primary power source for many third world countries. Propane is a straight-chain alkane, with the carbon atoms structured C-C-C. In terms of individual carbon atoms, propane can be expressed as CH3CH2CH3, which is the same as C3H8. Propane is a gas that has no odor, color and is nontoxic and flammable; it can also be less dense than water and denser than air. When propane is pressurized, it had a low boiling point, and it becomes a liquid. Propane is used in our everyday lives. For example, propane can be used for space and water heating, cooking food, and fuel for engine applications such as cars and buses, but its uses are rapidly expanding due to new technological developments.
