I chose to create a digital 3D model of caffeine because coffee and the molecules within it, is something thousands of people around the world consume everyday. I think that it is very interesting to research and understand the molecular composition of a beverage we put into our bodies daily. The molecular composition of caffeine is C8H10N4O2. This molecule contains eight atoms of carbon, ten atoms of hydrogen, four atoms of nitrogen, and two atoms of oxygen. The properties of caffeine are that it is a white and odorless crystalline solid. It tastes bitter and the density is 1.23 g mL-1 and its melting point is 235ºC. It is soluble in water and is a central nervous system stimulant. The relevance of caffeine in the world is that it is one of the few things that is universally sold and consumed.
