Glucose is a type of sugar molecule found in our everyday lives. It is part of many types of foods. In fact, most of the foods that we eat in a day will contain glucose. Even though having too much Glucose in your diet might cause diabetes, Glucose is still a very important part of our lives. Glucose is a simple carbohydrate, or sugar. Glucose is made by plants in a process called photosynthesis. It is important because cells in our body use it as a source of energy. Glucose supplies almost all the energy for the brain, so its availability influences psychological processes. When glucose is low, we loose self-control and can’t make decisions. The cells in our body convert glucose into carbon dioxide and water, yielding energy in the form of ATP. Insulin regulates the concentration of glucose in the blood.
