Polyethylene Terephthalate (abbreviated PET), also known as the molecular compound C10 H8 O4, is the most common type of polyester and is what we associate as basic polyester. Polyethylene Terephthalate’s main use is cloth, plastic, and glass resin. It can also be used alongside cotton. Some other important information about PET is that it is lightweight, clear, strong, and not reactive. This molecular compound is useful in our modern world because PET is used for convenient, albeit not healthy for the earth, disposable food containers. Though not a healthy resource, as it pollutes the earth and creates greenhouse gases. Polyethylene Terephthalate is very useful, and makes for a mass-producible and affordable material for making many useful things.
