The NaCl chemical formula, halite, rock salt, or more known as the food, table salt, is a mineral formulated of sodium chloride. Table salt consists of the Na+ and Cl- ions. When these connect they create a chemical bond, you can also call these molecules compounds. Sodium chloride is a common or basic example of an ionic compound. Once, they’ve bonded the molecules begin to form as a mineral. Rock salt is under the “rocky” layers of Earth. You have to mine this salt using “deep-shaft mining.” There are different types of salt like sea salt or salt brines and there are different ways to mine these. We need salt to survive because our bodies can’t live without sodium. People need it in their systems for correct fluid balance. When you don’t consume salt you will be at higher risk of the sodium in your blood being quite low.
