The big red component is chloride and the small green one is sodium. These two components form together to make table salt which we use practically everyday. Salt is a powdery white substance that is usually put in or on various foods and is very important to our health. Without salt we would be prone to very low sodium levels in our blood which can lead to death. So we can thank this powdery mixture of chloride and sodium for flavoring the foods we eat, and keeping us functioning.
