ABS

I chose Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS) as my molecule. ABS is a common plastic used to make everything from computer parts to legos. As it’s a polymer I chose to make one monomer of it which I did using tinkerCAD. Per monomer ABS has 15 carbon atoms, 17 hydrogen atoms, and a single nitrogen atom. Each monomer has a benzene ring. When compared to other plastics, ABS is favorable thanks to characteristics such as: high durability, good insulating properties, good moisture resistance, high abrasion resistance and strong weldability and slight polarity.
