Sodium Chloride Molecule

Sodium chloride, commonly known as table salt forms by the ionization of sodium and chlorine atoms. When this happens, sodium will donate an electron to chlorine. This makes sodium slightly positive and chlorine slightly negative. The resulting positive ion and negative ion form a stable ionic molecule.
