ATP short for Adenosine triphosphate which is found in you and me! ATP is made up of 3 phosphate groups, adenine ribose carbon sugar, and a nitrogenous base. It is made in the mitochondria, an organ in living cells. Why is ATP important? It is what powers our body in all that we do. When ATP is broken down by removing its terminal phosphate group chemical energy is released. Basically, ATP gives you the energy to do things like walking or biking. ATP is in our everyday lives because it provides the energy or power to do everything!
