Sorbitol is an artificial sweetener that has a total of 26 atoms and three elements. The elements that make up sorbitol are six carbon atoms, fourteen hydrogen atoms, and six oxygen atoms or as the formula would state C6H14O6. Sorbitol has a molecular mass of about seventy two Daltons plus fourteen Daltons plus ninety six Daltons for a total of 182 Daltons or grams per mole. The melting point of Sorbitol is 205℉ or 95℃, a boiling point of 564.8℉ or 296℃, and there is no freezing point of Sorbitol. The density of Sorbitol is 1.49 grams per cubic centimeter, so it would sink in water.
