As we scan the universe for forms of life other than our own, we are fulfilling man’s most primitive desire to experience new things. Whether it be new knowledge, technology, or food, we are constantly striving to discover what is new. Throughout NASA’s long and decorated history, this quest for new knowledge has brought us off the ground and into the vastness of outer space. “Novus”, translated from Latin, means something that is new or previously unseen. As we embark on a mission to the Red Planet, we begin our search in a new sector, a new frontier. A planet that holds new information that could unlock answers to questions that we cannot answer here on Earth. Our mission to Mars will look to uncover the prospect stated on our dollar bill: novus ordo seclorum, a “New World Order”. When it lands, what new information will the Novus Rover uncover?
