Monarch

This summer I raised Monarch butterfly larva into butterflies. One escaped from his container and crawled along the window sill to find a spot to make his cocoon, He found one at the very edge of the sill. We named him Houdini because he was an escape artist. Monarch is a symbolic name for a Mars rover. To begin, both Monarch butterflies and rovers go into capsules where the metamorphosis happens. Then they emerge into a completely new world ready for discovery. Secondly, a monarch butterfly makes a heroic journey to hibernate in Mexico. A Mars rover will be making a heroic journey to Mars to search for exciting scientific discoveries. The Monarch butterfly, once a caterpillar, now flies around seeing the world in a new way. The discoveries of the rover will help mankind see the world in a new way. And that is a metamorphosis!
