Prayas is an ancient Sanskrit word describing the “effort to complete a task.” It means to strive, endeavor, or labor for something. Linguists believe that most languages originate from Sanskrit, embodying why I wanted to name the Mars Rover in Sanskrit. The success of the Mars Rover would initiate many more discoveries. Mars Rover is an effort to discover more about the planet Mars in order to evaluate if humans can inhabit it, what better name is there for the Rover than “Prayas”? The data that the Rover will bring can be analyzed to evaluate life on Mars, and Prayas is the exertion to make one’s life better. Prayas aligns perfectly with the objective of the Mars Rover! The Mars Rover will bring human-kind one step closer to colonizing Mars and also making important discoveries about Mars’ topology - a huge accolade for scientists in expanding our knowledge of space!
