I think you should name the 2020 Mars rover Groundbreaker. My first and foremost reason is that the rover will break new ground in science, but it will also literally break the Martian ground, with its specialized drill for collecting samples. Also, it will search for signs of past microbial life on Mars. If life developed on two planets in our solar system alone, that would make the chance of life, even complex life, elsewhere in the universe so much less impossible. But it would also be groundbreaking if we found that there wasn’t ever life on Mars. Anything that could help resolve the mystery of life on other planets would be groundbreaking. Finally, this rover will help prepare for humans to go to Mars, and when we do go, that will be a groundbreaking achievement. These are my reasons why you should name the 2020 Mars rover Groundbreaker.
