“Life hunter,” is a direct Latin translation of the name. This is a perfect name for the rover in terms of the missions goals. Since the Mars Rover is searching for possibilities of life, why shouldn’t that be reflected in the name? NASA could choose this name for many reasons. It has direct correlation with the mission’s purpose and alliteration which is great for advertisement. The rover looks like a hunter. The single “eye” is like a hunter squinting through a viewfinder. This also alludes to the ‘looker’ part of the name. It is also designed with human characteristics in the way it’s built and moves, in order to see how living things would act on Mars. So, after looking at my reasonings, NASA should choose the name Vita Venator for the 2020 Mars Rover Mission because it encompasses the goals, requirements and look of the rover.
