Anaxagoras

Anaxagoras was a famous greek philosopher who developed early theories on cosmology and the origins of all materials. The reason why I have chosen him as my submission is that he was one of the first to theorize about life elsewhere. He speculated that all the parts and elements of earth had to come from some place, so he concluded that there must be life, or the properties of life, somewhere else in the universe. The Mars 2020 rover's goal is to land on Mars and collect data on the soil and parts of the crust to search for evidence of bacteria and water, and to collect more scientific data about the planet and its habitability. Anaxagoras's love for cosmology, the planets, and origin of the elements of Earth and life is why I think he is a great fit for this rover.
