This summer, I have been reading 'World History in one big fat book'. I was reading about castles, and later researched on Motte and Bailey castles. My castle is my attempt to build a replica of a Motte and Bailey castle.
I used lasagna to build the fence, the manicotti on either side of the lasagna are the ditches (lines of defense) and also used manicotti as the bailey. I used fettuccine and rigatoni to build the drawbridge and motte, additional fettuccine as barbed wire over the fence and finally a huge marsh-mellow as a lookout tower!
While all these look obsolete now, it was an advanced structure during ealry medieval times and protected ones property and family.
