My RPS mission would be an orbiter and lander to the dwarf planet Pluto. The mission goals would be to study Pluto’s orbit and magnetic poles. It would also analyze the soil, terrain, atmosphere and gravity. We know almost nothing about Pluto, and it is rich with opportunities. RPS would be perfect for the mission, because it could last the ten years it takes to get there, survive without sunlight, and withstand the coldness of space. The mission would be named Venetia, after the 11-year-old girl who first suggested Pluto’s name. The Orbiter would be named Orcus, a Roman name for the God of the underworld, and the lander would be named Rex, from another Roman name, “Rex Infernus.” My unique powers that would aid in this mission would be my ability to stay calm under pressure and my dedication to projects. Space missions are stressful, and many things can go awry, so my ability to keep a clear head would be invaluable. My dedication is also essential, as the creation of the units would be time-consuming, as would the journey to the dwarf planet.
