In today’s modern world, the demand for precious materials to supply the rapid advance of technology is at a constant high. Electric vehicles, for example, require a steep price in terms of rare earth metals. A lot of these metals come with their own challenges, from deforestation necessary to mine them to inhumane labor. Many of these metals, like gold, nickel, platinum, and cobalt, are abundant in the asteroid belt, which lies between Mars and Jupiter. Thus, my RPS-powered mission would be to travel to the asteroid belt and take samples of several asteroids to see where and what kinds of asteroids are most valuable to earth’s demands, and bring some back to earth to determine the cost and difficulty of doing so. RPS technology is well suited for this mission because of its distance and location. With the capability of making long ranged missions, as well as being able to function through dust and potential damage from asteroids, this mission could not be accomplished without the reliability of RPS technology. My unique power is working calmly and efficiently under pressure when things go wrong. This would be very important in this mission, as the asteroid belt may be unpredictable.
