My RPS mission is centered around the moon, Europa. Although Europa is one of Jupiter’s eighty moons, it’s particularly interesting due to its high possibility of containing an ocean. It’s thought that Europa’s ocean lies beneath a layer of ice spanning around 10-15 miles long. My mission goals are to: explore Europa's surface, take samples, drill down to the ocean, and test all samples for life. To accomplish the mission goals, I would send a rover to the moon. A rover would allow for Europa's surface to be explored and for samples to be collected. In terms of testing those samples for life, I thought a sample retrieval lander, similar to the one planning to be sent to Mars in around 2027, could be sent to Europa. The lander would collect the samples and bring them back to Earth for testing. Growing up in a family of seven, I learned the power of communication and used it to create plans that would not only work but succeed. In the past, this power was used for creating carpooling schedules, but now it would help me create a plan where each division that helped with the rover would run efficiently and successfully.
