Imagine if one day, humanity could be sustained and grow outside the Earth safely? This may seem far-fetched, however this goal can be achieved by executing a RPS powered mission to Mars. Multiple lava tubes on Mars have been unearthed, formed from lava hollowing into underground caves. These caves are ideal for humanity to blossom in, as they are able to store ice water and are protected from radiation, temperature extremes, micrometeorite impacts, etc. The necessity of RPS for this mission is for the reason that these lava tubes are located under the surface and are not exposed to much light. Therefore, RPS allows the spacecraft that we will send to rove about these premises, to function on a chemical material plutonium-238 that will generate electricity without the need for solar power. I believe a unique power of mine that will provide to the success of this mission is my leadership along with my creativity skills. In the past, I have always been willing to take on leadership roles such as my position as editor-in-chief in my school’s newspaper and along with this, I have grown in my writing and artistic skills over the years. Combining these two skills, my leadership will be able to help stir this mission in the right direction and my imagination will be helpful towards building this spacecraft. Together, blending an RPS-powered mission and my own personal strengths, can be the foundation to truly expand the borders of the human species.
