The Diamond Cushion is a new wheel design for Mars rovers. This wheel is like a cushion and looks like a Mars parachutes except wheel form. (see picture) It is coated with diamonds because Mars has some rough terrain and only a diamond can scratch a diamond. The idea is that the wheel will cushion rocks and other natural materials.
