My design is made of two different wheel pieces. One is a large dodecagonal prism, called the "TerrainWheel" and made of nitinol, a titanium alloy, a metal that is extremely strong but also has the property of superelasticity. The other part of my design is the current wheel used by NASA, the shapeshifting aluminum wheel, or "GoWheel" which will be used for normal, on-the-go purposes. When the TerrainWheel needs to be used, the wheel will be released from its 45-degree angle position, and move down the axel until it is next to the other wheel. The 3D design shows the GoWheel in use, while the picture shows the position after the use of the Terrain Wheel. My wheel is called the ARES Wheel because Ares is the Greek counterpart of the Roman Mars. These wheels will hopefully help drive us forward into a new era of research and interplanetary knowledge.
