This design is focused more on the medical field. While researching the topic I read that about 47 percent of 352 reported symptoms between 2002 and 2004 were hand related. Almost half of the injuries in space involve the hand.
There is enough room for gauze to be inserted to make the finger comfortable. The astronaut will need to assemble it. There are two pins that hold the top two sections together. The splint is sliced into 3 sections for varying finger lengths. I recommend that the astronaut has gauze around the base of the finger where the main joint is to avoid skin irritation. There is a slight chance that the pins will need an adherent to keep them in place.
