I created the Smile-Mobile in order to bring both smiles and laughter to the faces of the residents in my neighborhood, especially those considered vulnerable and sheltering in their homes. Because we are living in unprecedented times, we must ensure that we help others preserve their mental health as well as their physical health. Although I live in a residential development with nearly 300 homes, people have largely secluded themselves in their homes. Only a handful of people are walking or jogging in the neighborhood. I would like to bring some levity to my neighbors' lives as a break from the terrible news they hear and watch on TV regarding the impact of the Coronavirus. As people practice social distancing, they often cannot socialize with their friends and in some cases even their families. I created the Smile-Mobile in order for my neighbors to see and feel that others do care for them. With the Smile-Mobile's large multi-colored lettering and encouraging adages installed on all sides of a decorated golf cart, the Smile-Mobile is able to put a smile on a person’s face as they watch it drive down the streets of their neighborhood from the safety of their window and know that, although they are sheltered inside, they are still surrounded by those that care about them.
