The Golden Box made for Golden Northern Bumble Bees. It is made of waxy type material like their hives that is injected with nectar for a food source. It’s length is 166 mm, width is 148 mm, and it’s height is 30 mm. It has a dome-like diamond glass lid so the astronauts can observe bees and the environment they make or are put in. Because the material is waxy it is fairly lightweight and the lid is made out of an ultra strong glass material, so it is also a lighter weight. It will not need to be cleaned because the bees will take care of that themselves.
The bees will make their own ecosystem so they will need very little care and will make a food source, honey, so the astronauts can start making their food. Bees are also a great pollinator so they can pollinate flowers if they start to grow.
