The Compression Box

The Compression Box is a fully recycled product, used for waste compression in space. It can also be used to make other effective tools when needed.The Compression Box has two layers: the top layer is for solid waste compression and recycling. A filter sits between the top and bottom layer. The bottom layer is for liquid that is filtered out as the solid waste is compressed. The Compression Box separates and stores solid and liquid waste so that they can be recycled and reused. Rectangular prisms in the four slots keep the lid from dropping. When they are taken out, the heavy lid is free and then the handle on the top of the lid can be used to manually compress solid waste within the box. This manual compression could also serve as an upper-body exercise for the astronaut compressing the waste.
