Veteran Appreciation Pin

My pin is a heart with a poppy on each side and leaves going down below them. I first thought of doing poppies because they can represent those who died in the military in many ways. First, poppies in general can represent peace, remembrance, and death. Also, in the early 19th century after the Napoleonic Wars, the land was destroyed. But shortly after, poppies grew around the bodies of the fallen soldiers. I ended up incorporating poppies in my design because they are simple and pretty, yet they represent a lot. I put these on top of a heart because they are symbols of love. I did this so that you could see the heart and the poppies at the same time, showing love for the fallen veterans.
