The base of the pin is a heart, showing the love and care that the veterans show for their community and country. The heart is covered with stripes to represent the American Flag. There are five stars with a circle in the top left corner, to represent the five types of military - Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard.
