The badge is meant to be a general thank you to all branches of the military by using the white star as a general representation of the US military. And a cartoonish version of the air force symbol as it complements the style of the badge well and will give veterans a sense of nostalgia . Also I wrote in Latin thank you for your work as Latin is an important part of symbolism in the US military and many veterans will understand. I also used red white and blue as it is the colors of the American flag.
