The reason why I said "Veteran" on my pin is so whoever veteran wears the pin can feel honored and special. It is red, white, and blue because those are the colors of the American Flag. Anybody who sees the pin on the veterans shirt will immediately feel gratitude for them. The background is red, the stars are blue, and the word "Veteran" is white.
