Veterans Day Pin

There are many awards already in existence. I wanted mine to be new, but honor something old and have a deeper meaning unknown by most. I added flowers to represent the 1861 poem by Oliver Wendell Holmes, ‘The Flower Of Liberty.’ There are three flowers to stand for the first three verses. I feel like these verses best honor the beauty of the American Flag, and Veterans at the same time. They fought for our country. They charged into battles without hesitation, and even when their lives were at stake their loyalty to their country never faltered. I wanted to create something with a deeper meaning to honor them. I feel like I succeeded with this award. I did what I set out to do.
