To commemorate all veterans of the U.S., I designed a pin bearing the bald eagle holding the American flag in its beak, wings widespread in flight. The bald eagle is the centerpiece of this pin because it signifies freedom, something the veterans of our country sacrifice much to defend. The eagle is black to demonstrate the endured hardships of veterans. In its beak, there is an American flag, exemplifying the pride of our country, which could not exist without freedom. The white background symbolizes the peace and steadfastness our country continues to live in. Bordering the bottom are laurel leaves, hanging slightly off the edge. A wreath of laurels depicts the victory we enjoy today, the victory in the Revolutionary War, and the victory we continue to defend. These 5 components, freedom, sacrifice, pride, peace, and victory, make up America, and why we need to honor veterans.
