The reason why I made my pin a picture of dog tags is that the Army, Navy, and Marine Corps would wear them. Their reason for wearing dog tags is that if the soldiers were to die in combat they could be identified. Which is the same reason these dog tags meant a lot to them so they could get the message to their families that they had passed. If veterans didn't have these dog tags all those families that have lost a loved one couldn't find out what had happened to them. The dog tags worn by these veterans have made people grateful yet devastated.
