Importance of The Poppy

The Poppy became a symbol for fallen soldiers based on the poem “In Flanders Fields” by John McCrae. The poem describes red poppies in Flanders Fields of the French countryside, the site of many brutal battles during World War One. Poppies are the flowers used as a symbol around the world to remember those who died in military service. On my pin design, the base is a heart to symbolize the love we have for our veterans. Along with the poppy, there are also stars. The stars are colored red white and blue to represent the American flag. My pin design is meant to show my appreciation for veterans, and how we will never forget the sacrifice they did for us. Veterans day is a great way to remember our veterans, and hopefully this pin can be too.
