The pin’s design represented the Army Astronaut badges, since the veterans of this part of the army are under represented. There are three types of badges; Army Astronaut; Senor Army Astronaut; and Master Army Astronaut. To receive these badges you would need to have been in at least one mission in space. About 2,454 veterans have been awarded the basic Army Astronaut badge, 500 Senor Army Astronaut badges, and 125 Master Army Astronaut badges. Army Astronaut badges have a shooting star in the center of the badge that is why the pin is a shooting star. The shooting star passing through the pin shows space and the astronaut’s abundance of operations. The colors red, white, and blue were used to represent the American flag. These colors were used to represent the country of America that they risk their lives for. This pin was created to represent the Army Astronauts.
